A cisgender man with access to power abused it. He entered a women’s restroom. He drew his weapon. Now, the woman in the restroom was lucky to get out. But what if she didn’t?

What would have happened to her? Would she have been kidnapped? Would she have been taken away? Would people in the public have allowed this? No. The people in the restaurant stood up for the woman. But let’s talk about this women’s restroom safety threat. What was it brought on?

Not by transgender women, not by transgender men, by a border patrol agent. A cisgender male border patrol agent who decided to become intoxicated and then enter a women’s designated safe space, drew his weapon, and intimidated women. Again, your government did this. Trans people did not. As a trans man, we’ve been telling all of you terfs for so long, it’s not us. But think about it. Who’s your real enemy?

It’s your government. It’s our government. It’s easier to push the blame on trans people, but the threat of violence comes from the people in power and they don’t want to hold themselves accountable. So I ask you as a trans exclusionary radical feminist or a non-ally. Does it serve you to further stigmatize my transgender community and put yourself at risk by not seeing reality for what it is?

Transgender people are not the threat. Transgender people have never been the threat. But on some level, you’ve all known that from the beginning.
